DOT Mandate for Rollover Avoidance Systems Published, Making Rule Law

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration published a Final Rule n the Federal Register that will require all trucks made Aug. 1, 2017, and after to be equipped will electronic stability control systems to prevent vehicle rollovers.  Read more here.

Senate Drafts Highway Bill

The Senate Environmental and Public Works Committee has put together the framework for a surface transportation reauthorization bill.  The bill, which the committee plans to mark up today, would provide up to $257 billion over six years for transportation and infrastructure costs.  Read more here.

Trucking Conditions Weaken, but Capacity Crisis Expected in 2017

Speed limiter mandate one step closer to publication, sent to White House for approval

A proposed federal rule to require the installation and use of speed limiters (aka governors) on all trucks weighing more than 27,000 pounds has been sent from the DOT to the White House’s Office of Management and Budget for its approval.  Read more here.
